Floella Benjamin writes to GIA
As a group, we enjoyed reading Floella Benjamin’s book “Coming to England” which is a story about how she settled in England after leaving Trinidad when she was a child.
We all wrote a letter to Floella telling her about ourselves (some of us have moved to England in recent years) and how much we enjoyed her book and how we felt sorry for her sometimes and happy for her other times.
Skye enjoyed the book so much, she borrowed it from school for her mother and nan to read too.
We addressed our letters to the House of Lords (where Floella works) and we were delighted when she wrote back, thanking us for our letters and even suggesting that maybe one day we will write our own books. So who knows…
