Year 8 Young Leaders

We want our Year 8 students to develop their leadership skills and they are given several opportunities to do just this in their final year at Gilberts.

Sports Leaders

Young Sports Leaders initially attend training sessions for 10 weeks, which are led by Stewart Seymour from the Leighton Linslade School Sports Partnership. .

After this training, they go out in the local community, visiting lower schools and academies, where they help to run and co-ordinate sporting events and fixtures. This  allows them to gain confidence and knowledge about being a leader.  With these skills, we hope they will transfer to their upper school and continue on the Young Sports Leader programme.

Music Leaders

Music leaders take responsibility for setting up equipment and helping to organise the many musical events that happen throughout the year at our school.

They help out at the Year 4 singing for fun day and also at the Christingle service and Harvest festival assembly.

Young Leaders go on visits into the community and schools during school time, which include performing at the town's Christmas Tree Festival and visiting the residents of Laburnum Court with the ukulele/guitar group.

Music Young Leaders help  younger students at events happening both in and out of school, and ensure that the younger ones are confident in what we are doing.

They support Mrs. Saracino in singing assemblies once a week and sing along at the front, leading the school.

Music Young Leaders learn to take on responsibility and are role models to the younger children in school, as well as being a great help to Mrs. Saracino.

They  represent our school and show what wonderful and enthusiastic pupils we have.
